One week ago SoupLLJK was banned for seven days for commenting “badass” on someone elses creature.
<violation type : Offending comment>

After recieving the ban he immediately sent an appeal to EA Customer Support.
EA Account Name: email@example.com
Appeal: My account has been banned for posting a comment telling them their creature looked “badass”. I didn’t realize this would violate the Terms of Service at the time, actually meant it as a compliment and I had no intention of being offensive. In the future, I will be more careful, it was a simple mistake. Would you unban my account for the reasons above?
A short while later he received the following reply:
Thank you for contacting EA In-game support.
After further review of your account, we have determined [Offending Comment: badass ] is in violation of the EA Terms of Service.
“Strong vulgar language, crude or explicit sexual references … are always inappropriate Content for EA Online.” Please review section 2 “ONLINE CONTENT” for complete details.
As a result, your account has been suspended for a period of 7 days. Continued violations of the Terms of Service may result in additional suspensions and/or termination of your account.

So EA was going to be pushy, so he let it drop and didn’t play spore for seven days, then on the eighth day after he was banned from Spore’s server he tried to play again but it did not work. He still can’t log in. He got this message:
Hello, Your Electronic Arts account has been suspended for 30 days for violating the Electronic Arts Inc Terms of Service. We believe that the violation or behavior is serious enough to suspend your access to the service.
Violation: violation type : Language / RacialComment
Creation Date: 14/10/2008
So he was banned for 30 days, instead of 7, all for commenting “badass”. It appears that he did not even break the Terms of Servive which state:
“Strong vulgar language, crude or explicit sexual references … are always inappropriate Content for EA Online.”
Badass does not come under any of those, as shown by the dictionary which gives it a meaning which is nothing to do with vulgar or crude language:
adjective Also, badassed. 1. (of a person) difficult to deal with; mean-tempered; touchy.
2. distinctively tough or powerful; so exceptional as to be intimidating.
–noun 3. a mean-tempered troublemaker.
So once again EA has acted when it shouldn’t’ve. Not only that, but the ban extension to 30 days is not correct, as a 1st offense is a 7 day ban. And he has not had any ban before this event.
If you find this a disgrace please send it on by posting on blogs, forums and sending by email.
